Atlanta Drops a Hammer on Arizona in a 17-2 Obliteration

The Braves came out swinging Thursday night and never stopped. Atlanta erupted for 17 runs against Arizona in one of the most lopsided games of the young season, putting up crooked numbers in multiple innings and leaving no doubt who was in control from the first pitch.

Matt Olson led the charge with a monstrous 5-for-3 night featuring a home run and 3 RBI. Mauricio Dubon added a home run of his own, and Jorge Mateo drove in two. Starter Reynaldo Lopez earned the win, cruising through five innings while giving Arizona's lineup almost nothing to work with. Osvaldo Bido locked it down with three scoreless innings in relief.

Atlanta's offense now ranks among the most dangerous in baseball after this early stretch. The Braves are 5-2, tied for the NL East lead with Miami, and showing exactly the kind of ceiling this roster has always been capable of reaching.

Atlanta's run total Thursday was the highest single-game output by any team so far in 2026. The Braves have now scored 27 runs over their last two games combined, posting the top run differential in the NL at +27.

Robbie Ray Fans Seven as San Francisco Takes Down New York

Robbie Ray was dominant at Oracle Park, punching out seven Mets hitters over 5.1 innings to earn the win as San Francisco took the series from New York. Rafael Devers continued his strong start to 2026 by going deep in the ballgame, while Luis Arraez did what Arraez does and went 5-for-2 to bring his average to a scorching start.

David Peterson took the loss for the Mets, allowing 9 hits and 5 earned runs through 4.1 innings. New York's offense has been sputtering at the wrong time, and the Mets fall to 3-4 on the season. The Giants move to 3-4 themselves but will feel good heading into a Friday clash against the same Mets squad with Tyler Mahle on the hill.

Bradley Silences Royals, Twins Apr 26-1
Taj Bradley delivered a gem Thursday, going six innings without allowing an earned run as Minnesota handed Kansas City their third loss in four games. Cole Ragans suffered the loss despite a respectable 8-strikeout effort over 6 innings. The Twins climb to 2-4 while Kansas City slips to 3-3.

Yankees Sit Atop the AL at 6-1
New York did not play Thursday but remains the hottest team in the American League with the best record in baseball at 6-1 and a +24 run differential. The Yankees host Miami today at 1:35 PM ET, and Will Warren gets the ball as the Bombers look to extend their lead in the AL East.

The defending champions come to DC as heavy favorites. LAD sits at 5-2 while WSH is 3-4. Emmet Sheehan toes the rubber against veteran Miles Mikolas in a pitchers duel that could tighten up considerably once the Dodgers' lineup gets going.

Friday Feature
Ballpark Food Update
Opening week means new stadium menus across the league. Here is what is new and worth lining up for this season.
Dodger Stadium
Birria Grilled Cheese Dog
A natural extension of LA's street food obsession. Birria-braised beef brisket piled into a grilled cheese bun with consomme dipping sauce. Only at the Reserve Level.
Nationals Park
Old Bay Shrimp Fries
A nod to DC's Chesapeake roots. Crispy shoestring fries topped with Old Bay seasoned shrimp, cheddar sauce, and scallions. A new anchor dish at the Left Field Gate.
Coors Field
Rocky Mountain Brisket Bowl
Slow-smoked Colorado brisket over street corn rice with pickled jalapños and a chipotle crema. Portions are enormous. Plan accordingly. Available in the Sandlot area.
Yankee Stadium
NYC Bodega Breakfast Sandwich
Egg, bacon, and cheese on a toasted roll, bodega style. Available for all day games through the first three innings. A simple idea executed perfectly in the Great Hall.
American Family Field
Beer Cheese Bratwurst
Milwaukee does not fix what is not broken, but this upgrade puts beer cheese sauce directly inside a split bratwurst alongside grilled onions and brown mustard. Wisconsin on a plate.
Today's Take
The Brewers are already the most dangerous team in baseball, and almost nobody is paying attention. A 5-1 record, a +28 run differential, and a pitching staff with nothing to prove. Milwaukee does not get the respect of New York or Los Angeles, but the table is being set in silence.
